Lateral Cephalometric Radiograph (Lat Ceph)

A Lat Ceph is a simple and precise X-Ray of the side of the face so that measurements can be taken to determine the current and future nature of a patient’s bite by examining the relationship between the lower and upper jaws.

Panoramic Radiography (OPG)

OPG is a diagnostic tool that is used by dentists, oral surgeons and ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialists in everyday practice. It is a painless, fast and easy dental x-ray that produces a two-dimensional (2-D) image of the whole mouth including the teeth, upper and lower jaws, and surrounding structures and tissues.

OPG covers a wider area than conventional X-Rays and is a valuable diagnostic and treatment planning tool used to:

  • Assess the nasal area.
  • Examine the maxillary sinuses.
  • Confirm tooth positioning.
  • Identify gum and bone irregularities.
  • Diagnose advanced periodontal disease.
  • Diagnose the presence of oral cysts.
  • Identify the presence of tumors and oral cancer.
  • Highlight impacted teeth.
  • Diagnose temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).
  • Determine treatment for sinusitis.

Dental Cone Beam CT Scan

The use of Dental Cone Beam CT Scans has become an established method of capturing high-resolution images of the upper and lower jaws where regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. It generates a three dimensional (3-D) image of the dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone of the face and head.

The CT Scan is used to facilitate a more accurate treatment plan in certain treatment protocols, including:

  • Diagnosing temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).
  • Evaluation of the jaw, sinuses, nerve canals and nasal cavity.
  • Detecting, measuring and treating jaw tumors.
  • Surgical planning for impacted teeth.
  • Accurate placement of dental implants.
  • Determining bone structure and tooth orientation.

Optical Scanning

Our imaging department now also provides an optical scanning service for dentists. This is ideal for study models, saves all that plaster storage and for S.T.L. files for combining with CT Scan for the production of cheap surgical models.

I would like to congratulate Siobhan on having a first class Dentistry Practice in Donegal Town. My wife while out eating her lunch broke a crown at the front of her mouth. She phoned Blue Poppy right away & within two hours Siobhan and her team had the problem sorted. Its at times like this that we really appreciate such a fantastic service. We will certainly be recommending your Dental Practice.

Eddie McGaffery E&J Oil Services Ltd.

My daughter & I recently attented Blue Poppy Dentistry. Our patient experience was exceptional. From the aura of the scented candles as you climb the stairs, to the very warm & welcoming greetings from Pauline at reception. I felt relaxed. Coming from an era of the dreaded ‘School Dentist’, I had a certain apprehension of what was to come, however with Siobhan you not only get a competent Dentist and Orthodontist, but you also get a very caring, sensitive, and gentle person.

Aiobhinn & Micheal Boyd Boyd HR

I can’t recommend highly enough the experience of visiting the Blue Poppy Dental Practice. The level of care is second to none. With regards to my family’s dental health, it is the best decision we have made to become clients of the practice.

Ann Joyce

Your expertise and caring nature for patients meant a lot to my mother and she is so happy with the results. I am now pleased to be a patient of the Blue Poppy Dentistry & it’s rare that a dentist is so good that you actually start falling asleep during treatment as I did! I’ve no hesitation recommending Blue Poppy dental practice to anybody who needs dental treatment.
