Founded The Blue Poppy Dentistry & Orthodontic

Siobhan  founded The Blue Poppy (Donegal) in 2010. She comes from a family of dentists. Her father founded Murray Dental in Omagh where he practiced for forty years. Her brother, Emmet, took over the practice and works there currently as a general dentist.

Studies

Siobhan undertook her dental training at Trinity College Dublin. She was awarded the prestigious academic title of Scholar in 1997 and graduated with honours in 2001. She obtained a Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery and was made a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Ireland) in 2003.

As well as General Dental and Health Board dentistry her resume includes twelve months as a Senior House Officer in Maxillofacial surgery in Manchester; six months as a Locum Registrar in Orthodontics in Manchester and two years as a Specialist Registrar in Orthodontics at Leeds Dental School.

Her specialist interest is in Adult and Child Orthodontics and has a Masters in Orthodontics from Warwick University. She is currently studying  for a postgraduate certificate in Cone Beam Computerised Tomography through Kings College London

The Keen Traveler !

Siobhan has been a keen traveller and has carried out voluntary dental work in Guyana and in The Himalayas. It was while on the latter trip that she encountered the Blue Poppy, a flower native to the Himalayas and the national emblem of Bhutan.She has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa and canoed The Yukon River in Canada.

Catherine Cullen

Head Dental Nurse

Studies
Catherine is from Longford and joined our team in January 2019. She qualified as a Dental Nurse from Athlone institute of technology in 2007.
Work history

Catherine spent 10 years working in a busy dental practice in Galway City before settling in County Donegal.

She has a keen interest in orthodontics and is dedicated to making your visit to Blue Poppy Dental relaxed and enjoyable.

Keeping fit

In her spare time Catherine enjoys keeping fit and spending time with family and friends.

Ahmed AbdelHamid

General Dentist & Oral Surgeon

Studies
Ahmed graduated in 2003 from Ain Shams University- Cairo – Egypt.
Ahmed gained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – UK in 2014.
* Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – UK.
* Registered Dentist in The Dental Council (Ireland)
Work history
He has over 16 years of experience working as a general dental practitioner. Ahmed has spent most of that time practicing in Dubai in prestigious and well known dental clinics.
Ahmed has an extensive experience in General Dentistry and Dental Implant surgery and is passionate about learning and keeping up with all new advances in dentistry including Cone Beam Computerised Tomography.
Passion for History !

Ahmed is married to a dentist and has two young children who keep him busy most days.

However, in his spare time he also enjoys sports especially Basketball and has a passion for history. 
His father is a well-known Egyptian, historical architect who has been responsible for the restoration of the Old City of Cairo.

Dr. Hengjia Zhang

General Dentist with special interests in composite bonding and periodontics

Studies
Dr. Hengjia Zhang grew up in mainland China and moved to Canada at the age of 18. As a beneficiary of a Canadian Government scholarship, he received his undergraduate degree with first class standing from the University of Alberta in Canada. He graduated from University College Cork as a dentist and received the JNH Dental Award from Cork University Dental Hospital. Hengjia never stops learning after graduating from dental school. He received his first master’s degree from the University of Oxford. He is also pursuing his second master’s degree in restorative dentistry at the University of Edinburgh. He has been awarded the membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in 2022.
Work History
Hengjia is interested in all aspects of general dentistry, periodontology, and composite bonding. He enjoys dealing with people and making them satisfied with their dental care. Dr. Hengjia appreciates attending significant amount of Continuous Professional Education Courses. He has studied periodontics with Dr. Ian Dunn, minor oral surgery with Dr. Kashif Hafeez, and cosmetic dentistry with Dr. Monik Vasant. Dr. Hengjia enjoys teaching and has been selected as a clinical tutor at Cork University. Dr. Hengjia is also pursuing his further training in periodontology to become a specialist periodontist.
Interests
Hengjia appreciates staying fit and has successfully shed 30 kg of weight. Hengjia enjoys travelling and has visited over 20 countries. Hengjia has a Wine & Spirit Education Trust Award in wines from the School of Wine in London and enjoys drinking fine wines while listening to classic music. Hengjia enjoys golfing and dining at Michelin-starred restaurants.

Chloe Kane

Receptionist & Dental Nurse

Studies
Chloe is from Rathmullan. She graduated from Letterkenny institute of technology in Dental Nursing in 2018. At the age of 21.
Work history
Chloe worked in retail throughout her time in college and was there for 4 years. She started off as a Sales Assistant where she got the chance to climb the Retail ladder to become the shop’s Supervisor in 2019. She got the chance to travel around Ireland with the company to set up different store’s and also manage store’s when help was needed. Chloe enjoys chatting to the patients making sure they receive the best customer service possible.
Keen Interests

Chloe enjoys the art of makeup; she loves to experiment with different colours of eyeshadows and takes great pride in her makeup. She also enjoys sightseeing of old historical buildings. She has travelled to Poland and said it has to be one of the most beautiful countries she has visited as it is full of history and encourages people to visit Auschwitz and the salt mines over there. She also enjoys spending time with her family, friends and niece and nephew’s.

Susan O’ Loughlin

Hygienist

Studies

Susan began her training as a dental nurse in New York City. She subsequently graduated from Trinity College Dublin as a Dental Nurse and worked in a specialist periodontal practice in Dublin for a number of years as a dental nurse before undertaking training in Glasgow Dental Hospital. She graduated as a Dental Hygienist in 1995.

Work history

Susan is a qualified trainer, and has designed a course for cross infection control in the dental surgery.

Susan was the first Dental Hygienist to work in Donegal Town. She has worked in Donegal Town since 1995 and is a founder member of The Blue Poppy, Donegal team. She has enjoyed participating in building a professional and dynamic practice.

Quality family time

In her spare time Susan enjoys spending time with her family, including their dog Milly. She also enjoys travelling, reading and walking.

Catherine Daly

Hygienist
Studies
Catherine began her dental career in 2014 when she qualified as a dental nurse from LYIT. Since then, she has worked in specialist dental practices in Dublin, Limerick, and Galway where she gained valuable clinical knowledge, skills and experience. Oral health was always a passion for Catherine; so in 2016 she gained a degree in Oral Health Education and Promotion from NUIG. Catherine then went on to study Dental Hygiene in University College Cork.
Work history
Her friendly, empathetic manner and passion for her job makes patients feel completely at ease. Catherine prides herself on treating nervous patients sympathetically. She offers a high standard of care while managing all types of worries, thereby ensuring her patients are always comfortable in the dental chair. Preventive oral hygiene and education are core to Catherine’s ethos in treating her patients.
Quality family time

Outside of her dental career Catherine loves the outdoors, water sports and spending time with her family!

Chelsea Gallagher

Receptionist & Dental Nurse
Studies
Chelsea is from Letterkenny. She graduated from Letterkenny institute of technology class of 2021. She joined Blue Poppy Dentistry and Orthodontics summer of 2021.
Work history
Since starting, she has worked on reception and in the surgery. Chelsea has a keen interest in Cosmetic dentistry and enjoys assisting with the dentist whilst they are transforming a patients smile.

In her spare time Chelsea likes to go for walks with her dog and spend time with her family. She also loves to read books.

Dariya Vlad is from Lviv, Ukraine. Dariya graduated from Andrey Krupynskyi Lviv Medical Academy in July 2020. Dariya joined our team in Blue Poppy Dentistry and Orthodontics October 2022.

Lisa works in our Letterkenny practice. 

Lisa is from Carndonagh. She graduated from Atlantic Technological University in November 2022. 

While in college Lisa worked in hospitality for five years before her employment at Blue Poppy where she joined the team in May 2022

Since starting, she has worked in reception and in the surgery 

Interest

Lisa enjoys sports and staying active, she especially enjoys camogie and gaelic. 

Lisa shows a keen interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. She enjoys seeing someone’s smile transform
